I have been
practicing architecture for over 17 years and I have over 100 built projects to
my credit. Over those years I have had the opportunity to work for several architectural offices, each of which had their own
specialties. This has allowed me to acquire substantially concentrated experience in
a variety of disciplines. This variety
of experience allows me to approach a wider range of project types with relevant
experience and creativity.
I was born and
grew up in Western New York. I am an Eagle Scout. I attended the University of Pittsburgh
to study physics and astronomy prior to studying architecture at the State
University of New York at Buffalo.
There I earned both a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree and a Master of
Architecture degree. From 1997 to 1998 I
studied landscape architecture at the Architecture
School in Århus, Denmark. The focus of my study was the integration of building into the landscape.
My early
architectural experience as a designer and intern began at the office of Duchscherer-Oberst
Design, an architectural and engineering office that specialized in
transportation and education facilities.
I then worked at the office of Foit-Albert Associates, an architectural
and engineering office that specialized in municipal, educational and commercial
projects. After my studies in landscape
design I worked for the office of BHN&T Architects in Buffalo, New York. Here I focused on small commercial projects
and speculative office design.
In 2000 I moved
to Pittsburgh
and took a project manager and designer position with Renaissance 3
Architects. Here the range of the type
of projects grew focusing on larger commercial projects and the design of
student residence halls. I also focused
my experience in the design of research laboratories for local universities
such as Carnegie Mellon University.
In 2006, my
wife and I moved to Indiana,
PA and I started my practice focusing on commercial architecture. In 2007 I accepted a 1-year, temporary,
full-time teaching position at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the
Interior Design Department. Here, I relied on my experience in
computer-aided drafting, graphic presentation, and 3-dimensional design to help
students prepare for a professional career in interior design.
