Upper Campus Housing at the University of Pittsburgh; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 2002

Project Architect, Project Designer.  Work performed for others.

The University requested a comprehensive study of available properties on the upper end of the Oakland campus to house a 400-bed residence hall of any possible size and configuration.  The available sites were examined for vehicular access, public and campus transportation access, site opportunities, topography, proximity to adjacent student housing, and amenities.  In total 3 primary sites were identified and each had varying design approaches presented.  These included a wide range of schemes including small, clustered buildings of only 4 apartments each to one large 10 story building consisting of 2-bed rooms.  The University was presented floor plans, building sections, landscape and site plans and apartment prototype plans.
